That’s why, since 2019, we’ve partnered with Highstage and their powerful PLM system. Here’s our experience with Highstage and how it’s helped us push boundaries in Medtech.

Why Highstage?

Before Highstage, managing the complexities of product development was a growing challenge for Tidewave. As a Medtech company, they’re held to some of the strictest compliance standards in the industry, and manually tracking every stage of the product lifecycle wasn’t sustainable.

“It was becoming harder to manage everything manually,” says a representative from Tidewave. “With Medtech’s validation requirements, we needed a system that could handle our specific needs.”

The team required a solution that could manage products from concept to market and beyond—streamlining development, staying audit-ready, and tracking performance long after products were in use.

Getting Started with Highstage

Switching to Highstage’s PLM system was a game-changer for Tidewave. The implementation process was seamless, thanks to Highstage’s dedicated CAD desk, which helped configure the platform to fit their unique workflows. While there were a few bumps along the way—like deciding how to name products and configuring the Risk Management Module—Tidewave found the overall experience smooth and well-supported.

Integration with their existing systems was straightforward, although compliance requirements mean that only one key user, Andreas, currently has full access. Tidewave is actively exploring ways to safely extend access to more team members while maintaining the regulatory integrity their industry demands.

Product Performance and Usability

Highstage’s PLM system has become a cornerstone of Tidewave’s operations. Its flexibility allows the team to adapt the system to their needs while keeping a firm grip on compliance—a non-negotiable in Medtech.

One standout feature for Tidewave is the ability to remotely track devices. This capability has allowed them to address updates and malfunctions proactively, ensuring they maintain the highest standards of patient safety and product performance.

That said, Tidewave has expressed a desire for more built-in structure, particularly when it comes to validation processes. “Sometimes, flexibility is great,” says the team, “but we’d love a little more guidance in certain areas to make processes even smoother.”

Since adopting Highstage, Tidewave has seen tangible improvements in efficiency and productivity. The system has made it easy to track every product version and configuration—a must in such a heavily regulated industry.

What used to feel overwhelming is now manageable, freeing the team to focus on what they do best: delivering innovative solutions that improve lives.
